Want To Play A Game?

So, it’s January. The transfer window in the world of soccer has just opened. What’s that? Oh, it’s nothing. Just the sound of millions of fans listening to and spreading completely bogus rumors.

Admit it. A part of you hates the transfer window and wishes it would close already just so we don’t have to get our hopes up. That part is never fun. What we do here at Denchblog is different. We’re going to make this fun. We’re going to play a little game. Don’t worry, this isn’t Saw.

This game is called “English Roulette.” In this game, we give you a list of five players and each of them is located behind a door. The catch is that you don’t know which player is behind which door, and you can only choose one guy. The guy you choose is guaranteed to be transferred either to or from Arsenal.

First, the list. Player  No. 1 is Adrian Lopez from Atletico Madrid. There are rumors floating about that head coach Arsene Wenger has placed a £10 million bid to pry him away from Spain. That would be nice to get Lopez, because then we’d have a little bit of quality coming off the bench instead of the forehead known as Gervinho.

The second is Johan Djourou. It sounds as if Arsenal is willing to sell him to Hannover in the Bundesliga for less than his value. This is an encouraging sign from the club because it looks like we’re trying to offload some sparingly-used players.

The next is Sebastien Squillaci. There’s nothing official yet, but the defender has said he will be leaving Arsenal. We can die happy people now.

Then there is Luke Shaw. Wenger looks to be interested in yet another Southampton player. Should this be a surprise. Arsenal raids Southampton’s talent the same way the two Manchester clubs have raided Arsenal over the past couple years. Perhaps that’s why the club is slipping down the table?…

Last but not least is Nani. This would only be fair, as Manchester United took Robin van Persie away from Arsenal last summer (thus leaving me with an outdated kit). But it probably won’t happen, as he would be very expensive. But we can dream, right?

Those are the players. Now look over here where there are five perfectly ordinary and identical doors. This is the tough part. You have to pick a door at random. Have you done it yet?

I picked the one in the middle. Behind the middle door was Squillaci! That certainly made my night! Which one did you pick? I hope it made you happy!
